On 20-21 May, GAAV will conduct a training to support the development of a national report on armed violence and insecurity in the Philippines, in partnership with the Office of the President’s Special Envoy on Transnational Crime (OSETC), the Centre for Peace Education (CPE), and the Development Academy of the Philippines (DAP).
The new edition of the Global Burden of Armed Violence 2015: Every Body Countswas officily launched in Geneva, Switzerland on 11 May. The report examines how a comprehensive approach to violent deaths can serve to track progress towards a peace and security goal—whether as part of the post-2015 development framework or as a goal in and of itself.
GAAV’s working group on Working with Armed Actors is currently exploring the subject area: community-based approaches to disarmament, demobilisation and reintegration.
